A fight in a South Side lounge escalated into the fatal shooting of Keonte Barney and the wounding of six other people early in the morning on October 31st in the West Woodlawn neighborhood. At about 1:45 a.m., police were called to The Inflation Lounge at 541 East 63rd Street. They found Barney unresponsive on the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 2:28 a.m. Police said that two people had a verbal argument inside the lounge before a person took out a gun and began firing. After the person left the club the person shot into the crowd again. Officials did not know if Barney was the intended target.
