20-year-old Cordero Nash was shot and killed at about 11:51 a.m. at 11100 South Vernon Avenue in the Far South Side's Roseland neighborhood. An off-duty Chicago police officer was also fired at around the same time but was not hit. The off-duty officer was on the scene when he tried to arrest suspects involved in the shooting. He was shot at by at least one of them.
