Bobby Butler, 55, was shot in the abdomen just before 6 p.m. on November 22nd as he tried to help a woman being robbed of her purse on the West Side. Butler had come to the aid of a 26-year-old woman who was being robbed at gunpoint. The woman had walked from a nearby "L" stop to her car at 2115 South Millard Avenue and was about to get in when she was confronted by a man about 25 to 30 years old who threatened her with a gun. Butler saw what was going on, came up to the robber, tried to stop him, and was shot. The robber ran away and the woman was unharmed. Butler was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m. that evening.
